Dr. Kizner accepts the 2013 Excellence in Education Program of Distinction Award from Virginia Tech for HCPS Integrative STEM programs.
Waterman Elementary School is dedicated to providing advanced learning opportunities to all students through I-STEM units at each grade level. Students work in teams applying science and math skills as they solve real-world problems utilizing a simple design process.
In each unit students:
- conduct research
- analyze problems
- share ideas
- design and build solutions
- evaluate the effectiveness of each solution
- communicate with peers
- compare data
- present information to others
